Pearl Mackie

Pearl Mackie (born May 29, 1987) is a British actress known for her role as Bill Potts in the long-running television series Doctor Who. She began her acting career in 2014, playing Anne-Marie Frasier in the BBC One soap opera Doctors. Mackie grew up in Brixton, London, and is of West Indian and English descent. She is the granddaughter of Philip Mackie, the screenwriter for The Naked Civil Servant. Mackie studied Drama at the University of Bristol and graduated from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2010. She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish and has participated in various workshops and plays throughout her career.
