Peggy Lipton (August 30, 1946 – May 11, 2019) was an American actress, model, and singer. She gained recognition for her appearances in popular television shows of the 1960s before landing her iconic role as Julie Barnes in the crime drama The Mod Squad (1968–1973), which earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama in 1970. After marrying musician Quincy Jones, Lipton took a 15-year hiatus from acting to raise her two children. She returned to the screen in 1988, notably portraying Norma Jennings in David Lynch's Twin Peaks. Lipton was born into a Jewish family in New York City and had Russian and Irish heritage.
