Peter Dougan Capaldi (born 14 April 1958) is a Scottish actor and director. Known for his roles in Doctor Who and The Thick of It, Capaldi has received critical acclaim and multiple award nominations for his performances. He won Best Male Comedy Performance at the British Academy Television Awards in 2010 for his portrayal of the foul-mouthed Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It. Capaldi also won an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award for Best Short Film for his 1993 film Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life. In addition to his acting career, Capaldi has directed films and television series, including the sitcom Getting On. He has also appeared in family films such as Paddington and Christopher Robin.
