Peter Brian Gabriel is an English singer, songwriter, record producer, and activist, born on February 13, 1950. He gained prominence as the lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis before embarking on a successful solo career. Gabriel's debut single, 'Solsbury Hill,' marked the beginning of his solo success. His fifth studio album, 'So,' released in 1986, became his best-selling work, receiving triple platinum certification in the UK and five times platinum in the US. The album's hit single, 'Sledgehammer,' earned Gabriel a record-breaking nine MTV Awards. Alongside his musical achievements, Gabriel co-founded the WOMAD festival and Real World Records, showcasing and promoting world music.
