Peter Gerety (born May 17, 1940) is an American actor known for his extensive work on stage, screen, and television. He gained recognition for his role as Judge Daniel Phelan in the critically acclaimed series, The Wire (2002-2008). Gerety has appeared in numerous plays both on and off-Broadway, including Conversations with My Father and Harold Pinter's Hothouse. He was also part of the cast of the NBC police drama Homicide: Life on the Street and played FBI Agent Franklin Morgan in the American adaptation of Life on Mars. Gerety has made appearances in several feature films, such as K-Pax, The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, and War of the Worlds.
