Peter Macon is an American actor known for his role as Lt. Commander Bortus in the Fox/Hulu television series The Orville. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Macon attended North Community High School where he developed a passion for acting. He later attended the San Francisco Art Institute and the Yale School of Drama, earning a master's degree in acting. Macon has a significant stage presence, having acted for nearly 30 years at Twin Cities theaters including Penumbra, Illusion, and Children's Theatre Company. He has also starred in various productions of Othello. Macon has made appearances in TV shows like Nash Bridges, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Shield.
