Peter Spence is an English journalist and writer, born on April 24, 1944. He began his career as a reporter for the Birmingham Post and Mail after completing his education at Bromsgrove School. He also served in the Territorial Army during this time. Spence graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Politics and American Studies in 1968, marking the start of his professional writing career. He has contributed to various television shows including Not the Nine O'Clock News, Crackerjack, and Rosemary & Thyme. Spence is best known for creating and writing the popular British sitcom To the Manor Born. Additionally, he has penned a book titled 'some of our best friends are animals' based on his experiences with the Taylor family, who owned Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park in Somerset.
