Peter von Zahn
Peter von Zahn (29 January 1913 – 26 July 2001) was a German author, film maker, and journalist. Born in Chemnitz, he grew up in Dresden and studied law, history, and philosophy. During World War II, he was drafted and served in the military. After the war, von Zahn was one of the founders of the Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR) and managed the NWDR Studio in Düsseldorf. In 1951, he became a foreign correspondent in the United States. Throughout his career, he produced over 3000 radio shows and 1000 television films. Von Zahn received numerous awards, including the Adolf-Grimme-Preis, the DAG-Fernsehpreis, the Goldene Kamera, and the Bavarian TV Award. He died in Hamburg at the age of 88.
