Pharrell Lanscilo Williams (born April 5, 1973) is an American record producer, singer, rapper, and songwriter. He gained recognition as one half of the hip hop and R&B production duo, the Neptunes, alongside Chad Hugo. In 1999, Williams formed the band N.E.R.D., where he served as the lead vocalist. Known for his influential and successful music production, Williams has played a significant role in shaping the sound of modern popular music. He released his solo debut album, 'In My Mind', in 2006. Williams produced and was featured on the chart-topping song 'Blurred Lines' by Robin Thicke in 2013 and his own song, 'Happy', became a global hit as the lead single for the film 'Despicable Me 2'.
