Phil Harris (June 24, 1904 – August 11, 1995) was an American actor, comedian, singer, and songwriter. He was known for his work as an orchestra leader and his role in radio situation comedies. Harris co-starred with his wife Alice Faye in The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show for eight years. He also had a successful career as a voice actor, lending his voice to iconic animated characters such as Baloo in The Jungle Book, Thomas O'Malley in The Aristocats, Little John in Robin Hood, and Patou in Rock-a-Doodle. Harris was born in Linton, Indiana and grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. He is remembered for his distinctive Southern accent and his hit novelty song, 'The Thing'.
