Phil Leeds (April 6, 1916 – August 16, 1998) was an American character actor best known for his appearances in numerous movies and television series. Born on April 6, 1916, in New York City, Leeds grew up in the Bronx and worked as a peanut vendor near Yankee Stadium and Manhattan's Polo Grounds. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he embarked on a career in entertainment. Leeds started as a standup comedian before transitioning to film and sitcom roles. Some of his notable appearances include The Dick Van Dyke Show, Maude, Friends, The Golden Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Boy Meets World.
