Philip Franks (born 2 February 1956) is an English actor and director known for his roles in popular English television series. He was born in London to Patricia and Robert Franks, with his father being a squadron leader pilot in the Royal Air Force. Franks developed a love for theatre at a young age and has been passionate about it ever since. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Cedric 'Charley' Charlton in The Darling Buds of May and Sgt. Raymond Craddock in Heartbeat. Franks has also made guest appearances in various shows including Absolutely Fabulous, Pie in the Sky, Midsomer Murders, and Bleak House.
