She gained popularity as one of the leading stars in the Gainsborough melodramas of the 1940s, including 'The Man in Grey' (1943). Throughout her 50-year career, Calvert often played the 'good girl' in contrast to her wicked counterparts, showcasing her talent and charisma. She was considered one of the most popular movie stars in Britain during the 1940s. Calvert was born in Chelsea, London, and trained at the Margaret Morris School of Dancing. Her contributions to the entertainment industry continue to be remembered and appreciated.
