Phyllis George Biography
Phyllis Ann George (June 25, 1949 – May 14, 2020) was an American businesswoman, actress, and sportscaster. She gained prominence in 1975 when she became a reporter and co-host of the CBS Sports pre-show The NFL Today, making her one of the first women to have an on-air role in national televised sports broadcasting. Apart from her career in sports broadcasting, George also served as the First Lady of Kentucky from 1979 to 1983. Prior to her television career, she won the titles of Miss Texas in 1970 and Miss America in 1971. Born in Denton, Texas, she attended North Texas State University and Texas Christian University. Phyllis George passed away on May 14, 2020.
