Phyllis Smith

Phyllis Smith is an American actress, comedian, and casting associate. Born on August 15, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, she is best known for her role as Phyllis Vance in the television series The Office and her voice role as Sadness in the film Inside Out. She also starred as Betty Broderick-Allen on the Netflix series The OA. Smith graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1972 with a degree in elementary education. Prior to her acting career, she worked as a dancer, cheerleader for the St. Louis Cardinals, and a burlesque performer. She later pursued acting and casting in Hollywood, California.
