Pia Zadora Biography
Pia Zadora (born Pia Alfreda Schipani on May 4, 1954) is an American actress and singer. She began her career as a child actress on Broadway and in regional theater before making her film debut in Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964). In 1981, Zadora gained national attention for her role in Butterfly, which earned her a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year as well as Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Actress and Worst New Star. In the 1980s, she transitioned to music and released several albums featuring popular standards. Zadora was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to a father of Italian-American descent and a mother of Polish-American descent.
