Polly Dean Holliday (born July 2, 1937) is an American actress known for her work on stage, television, and film. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Florence Jean 'Flo' Castleberry, a sassy waitress, on the 1970s sitcom Alice. This character became so iconic that her catchphrase 'Kiss my grits!' remains highly memorable. Born in Jasper, Alabama, Holliday grew up in Childersburg and Sylacauga. She attended the Alabama College for Women at Montevallo, where she excelled in the theater department and graduated in 1959 with a degree in piano. Later, she continued her studies at Florida State University. Throughout her career, Holliday has made notable appearances in various TV shows and movies.
