Pooja Shah

Pooja Ashwin Shah is a British actress, filmmaker, and model of Kenyan-Indian descent. Born on August 8, 1979, she is best known for her role as Kareena Ferreira in the popular UK soap opera EastEnders. Shah started her acting career in theatre and then starred as Mary Magdalene in the film Jesus the Curry King. She also appeared as Meena in the 2002 film Bend It Like Beckham. In addition to her acting work, Shah works alongside her husband as a director and writer for short films, winning three film awards for their collaborations. Shah's grandparents migrated from Gujarat, India to Kenya. She studied Indian classical dance and holds a BA Hons Degree in Theatre with Visual Practice from the University of Brighton.
