Prunella Margaret Rumney West Scales, born June 22, 1932, is a retired English actor known for her role as Sybil Fawlty in the BBC comedy Fawlty Towers. Scales was born in Sutton Abinger, Surrey, to Catherine and John Richardson Illingworth. She grew up in Bucks Mills near Bideford in Devon during the Second World War.
