Rahm Emanuel

Rahm Emanuel is an American politician and diplomat. He is currently serving as the United States ambassador to Japan. Emanuel was born on November 29, 1959, in Chicago. He attended Sarah Lawrence College and Northwestern University. Emanuel began his political career by serving as the director of the finance committee for Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign. He then joined the Clinton administration, where he held various positions including assistant to the president for political affairs and senior advisor to the president for policy and strategy. Emanuel represented Illinois in the United States House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. He later served as White House Chief of Staff from 2009 to 2010 under Barack Obama. Emanuel also served as the mayor of Chicago from 2011 to 2019.
