Born on October 1, 1950, in Houston, Texas, he has received critical acclaim for his acting skills. Quaid's notable achievements include nominations for an Academy Award, BAFTA Award, and Golden Globe Award for his role in The Last Detail (1973). He also won a Golden Globe and received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of U.S. President Lyndon Johnson in LBJ: The Early Years (1987).
