Randy Travis (born Randy Bruce Traywick on May 4, 1959) is an American country music and gospel music singer. He began his career in 1978 and became a prominent figure in the neotraditional country movement in the mid-1980s. Travis is known for his distinctive baritone vocals and has recorded 20 studio albums, selling over four million copies of his debut album, 'Storms of Life.' He has charted more than 50 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including 16 No. 1 hits. In 2013, Travis suffered a stroke that incapacitated him but continues to be recognized as a major force in country music.
