Ray Walston Biography
Ray Walston (November 2, 1914 – January 1, 2001) was an American actor and comedian. He began his career on Broadway and won a Tony Award for his performance in Damn Yankees (1956). Walston appeared in numerous films, including South Pacific (1958), The Apartment (1960), The Sting (1973), and Of Mice and Men (1992). He also starred as the title character on My Favorite Martian and as Glen Bateman in the miniseries The Stand (1994). Walston earned two Primetime Emmy Awards for his role in Picket Fences. Born in Laurel, Mississippi, he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana with his family.
