    Reid Shelton (October 7, 1924 – June 8, 1997) was an American actor known for his work in both Broadway and television. Born in Salem, Oregon, he graduated from the University of Michigan. Shelton had a successful career in Broadway, appearing in nine shows from 1952 to 1983. He originated the role of Oliver Warbucks in the hit musical Annie, which he played for six years from 1977 to 1983. Shelton also had a notable role in the HBO comedy series 1st & 10 as football coach Ernie DiNardo, and a cameo appearance in Cheers as a small-time con man. His TV credits include over 31 shows from 1974 to 1990.
