Rex Wayne Tillerson is an American energy executive and former politician. Born on March 23, 1952, Tillerson served as the 69th United States secretary of state from 2017 to 2018 in the administration of Donald Trump. Prior to his political career, Tillerson had an extensive tenure at ExxonMobil, where he began as a civil engineer in 1975 and eventually became chairman and CEO from 2006 to 2016. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Tillerson is also known for his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, having served as the national president from 2010 to 2012.
