Che Armond Smith, professionally known as Rhymefest, is an American rapper and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. He gained recognition for his collaborations with rapper Kanye West, co-writing notable songs like 'Jesus Walks' (2004) and 'New Slaves' (2013). Rhymefest also co-wrote the award-winning song 'Glory' (2014) for the film Selma, receiving both a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Original Song. In 2006, he released his debut album 'Blue Collar' under Mark Ronson's Allido Records. Rhymefest originally started his career battle rapping at events such as JumpOff and ScribbleJam, where he faced off against artists like Eminem.
