Rhys Ernst is an American film producer, director, and trans man known for his work exploring transgender identity. He gained recognition for his involvement in the critically acclaimed television show Transparent, where he served as an associate producer. He also directed the documentary spin-off This is Me. Ernst's controversial debut feature film Adam further solidified his reputation in the industry. Born and raised in North Carolina, Ernst transitioned at the age of 25. He credits media, particularly MTV and New Queer Cinema, for helping him discover queer identities and envision a future. He holds a BA in film from Hampshire College and an MFA from CalArts. Ernst's films have been screened at prestigious festivals like Sundance Film Festival and have received awards at the Chicago International Film Festival.
