Ric Ocasek Biography
Ric Ocasek, born Richard Theodore Otcasek on March 23, 1944, was an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and occasional actor. He is best known as the primary vocalist, rhythm guitarist, songwriter, and frontman for the American new wave band The Cars. Ocasek also had a successful solo career, releasing seven albums, with his song 'Emotion in Motion' becoming a top 20 hit in the United States in 1986. Additionally, he worked as a record producer for various artists, including Motion City Soundtrack, Weezer, and No Doubt. In 2018, Ocasek was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Cars. He passed away on September 15, 2019.
