    Richard Karn Wilson, born on February 17, 1956, is an American actor, comedian, author, and former game show host. He is best known for his role as Al Borland in the ABC series Home Improvement and as Fred Peters in the Hulu series Pen15. From 2002 to 2006, he served as the fourth host of Family Feud. Born in Seattle, Washington, Karn graduated from Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program. He gained drama experience in Scotland at the Edinburgh Festival. Karn began his career with a commercial for Michelob beer during Super Bowl XIV. He dropped his last name due to a naming conflict when joining the Screen Actors Guild.
