Richard McCabe (born William McCabe; 18 August 1960) is a Scottish actor who has specialized in classical theatre. He is best known as an Associate Artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). McCabe has portrayed a range of roles, from comedy to drama, in productions such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Winter's Tale, and King John. Notably, he gained attention for his portrayal of Puck in the 1989 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, featuring punk fairies and a scrapyard set. He has also created the role of Christopher Marlowe in Peter Whelan's School of Night, commissioned by the RSC to commemorate Marlowe's death. McCabe continues to be an influential figure in the world of classical theatre.
