Rick Lyon, born Richard Lyon on February 25, 1958, is an American puppeteer, actor, and puppet designer and builder. Lyon has had a longstanding career in puppetry, having worked for The Jim Henson Company as one of the operators of Big Bird. He gained recognition for his roles in the Broadway musical Avenue Q, originating the characters of Trekkie Monster, Nicky, the blue Bad Idea Bear, and others. Lyon designed and created all of the puppets for the production. He has also contributed to various television projects, including 15 seasons on Sesame Street, Crank Yankers, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Lyon's talent and expertise in puppetry have made him a prominent figure in the industry.
