Rick Steves

Rick Steves is an American travel writer, author, activist, and television personality. Born on May 10, 1955, in Barstow, California, he is best known for his travel philosophy of encouraging people to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations and immerse themselves in the local culture. Since 2000, he has hosted the travel series 'Rick Steves' Europe' on public television. Additionally, he has a popular public radio travel show called 'Travel with Rick Steves.' Steves is also an accomplished author, having written numerous travel guides, including the well-received 'Europe Through the Back Door.' In 2006, he began writing syndicated newspaper columns, and in 2010, his company released the mobile app 'Rick Steves’ Audio Europe' featuring self-guided walking tours and geographic information.
