Rita Moreno, born Rosa Dolores Alverío Marcano on December 11, 1931, is a Puerto Rican actress, dancer, and singer. With a career spanning over seven decades, Moreno is recognized for her work on stage and screen. She is considered one of the last remaining stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Moreno has achieved numerous accolades including an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony (EGOT) - a distinction held by only a few performers. She is also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the National Medal of Arts, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, the Kennedy Center Honor, and a Peabody Award. Notable film appearances include Singin' in the Rain (1952), The King and I (1956), and her iconic role as Anita in West Side Story (1961), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the first Latin American to achieve this honor.
