Robert Axelrod is an American political scientist and Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at the University of Michigan. Born on May 27, 1943, Axelrod is renowned for his interdisciplinary work on the evolution of cooperation. With a focus on complexity theory, international security, and cyber security, he has made significant contributions to explaining conflict of interest and the emergence of norms. Axelrod received his B.A. in mathematics from the University of Chicago in 1964 and his Ph.D. in political science from Yale University in 1969. Before joining the University of Michigan, he taught at the University of California, Berkeley. Axelrod has received numerous honors and awards for his contributions in the field.
