Robert Bauer

Robert F. Bauer is an American attorney who served as White House Counsel under President Barack Obama. He was born on February 22, 1952, in New York City. Bauer graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1970, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College in 1973. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1976. Bauer was President Obama's personal attorney and general counsel for his 2008 presidential campaign. He also served as general counsel for the Democratic National Committee and advised President Obama since 2005. Bauer was named White House Counsel in November 2009 and held the position until June 2011.
