Robert Adame Beltran is an American actor known for his role as Commander Chakotay on the 1990s television series Star Trek: Voyager. He was born on November 19, 1953, in Bakersfield, California, to Mexican immigrant parents. Beltran attended East Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield College before graduating from California State University, Fresno with a degree in Theater Arts. He began his acting career in Los Angeles and had his breakthrough in 1982 with the film Eating Raoul, where he played the title character. Beltran also had notable roles in other films such as Lone Wolf McQuade and television shows like Zoot Suit. Apart from his acting career, Beltran comes from a large family and has a Latin Jazz musician brother named Louie Cruz Beltran.
