Robert MacNeil
Robert MacNeil is a Canadian-American journalist and writer, best known as a retired television news anchor. He was born on January 19, 1931, in Montreal, Canada, to Margaret Virginia and Robert A. S. MacNeil. Growing up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he attended Rothesay Collegiate School and Upper Canada College before graduating from Carleton University in Ottawa in 1955. MacNeil began his career in the news industry at ITV in London and later worked for Reuters and NBC News as a correspondent in Washington, D.C., and New York City. In 1975, he partnered with Jim Lehrer to create The MacNeil/Lehrer Report, a highly influential television news program.
