Robert Schimmel Biography
Robert George Schimmel (January 16, 1950 – September 3, 2010) was an American stand-up comedian known for his blue comedy. Born in the Bronx, New York City, he was voted class clown in high school and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Schimmel started his comedy career in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he worked as a stereo salesman. He gained recognition as a 'comic's comic' due to his relentless touring, comedy albums, and frequent appearances on HBO and The Howard Stern Show. Schimmel ranked at number 76 on Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time. He was the son of Jewish Holocaust survivors, Betty and Otto Schimmel.
