Robert Sean Leonard, born Robert Lawrence Leonard on February 28, 1969, is an American actor known for his roles in both television and film. He gained recognition for portraying Dr. James Wilson in the popular television series House (2004–2012) and Neil Perry in the film Dead Poets Society. Leonard's talent has earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in The Invention of Love in 2001. He has an extensive theater background, appearing in notable productions such as Candida, Long Day's Journey Into Night, Breaking the Code, and The Speed of Darkness. Leonard also had a recurring role on the television series Falling Skies and starred in Swing Kids as Peter Müller. He grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey, attended Ridgewood High School, and studied theater at Fordham University and the Columbia University School of General Studies.
