Robert Trujillo, born on October 23, 1964, is an American musician known as the bassist for the heavy metal band Metallica. He started his career as the bassist for crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies from 1989 to 1995 and also played with funk metal supergroup Infectious Grooves. Trujillo has collaborated with artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Jerry Cantrell, and Black Label Society. Joining Metallica in 2003, he is currently the longest-serving bassist in the band. In 2009, Trujillo was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Metallica. He was born in Santa Monica, California, and grew up in Culver City.
