Robin Roberts (born November 23, 1960) is an American television broadcaster best known as the anchor of ABC's Good Morning America. Growing up in Mississippi and attending Southeastern Louisiana University, Roberts began her career as a sports anchor for local TV and radio stations. She then spent 15 years as a sportscaster on ESPN before joining Good Morning America in 2005. Roberts was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012 and has received numerous awards for her work, including a Peabody Award for her coverage of her own battle with myelodysplastic syndrome. Born in Tuskegee, Alabama, she is the daughter of Lucimarian and Colonel Lawrence E. Roberts.
