Known for his improvisational skills, he created a wide variety of memorable characters in films, dramas, and comedies. Williams is considered one of the greatest comedians of all time. He received numerous awards, including an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Grammy Awards. Williams began his career in stand-up comedy in the 1970s and gained fame for his role as Mork in the sitcom Mork & Mindy (1978–1982). He starred in films such as Popeye (1980) and won an Academy Award for his performance in Good Will Hunting (1997).
