He received numerous awards, including an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Grammy Awards. Williams began his career in stand-up comedy in the 1970s and gained fame for his role as Mork in the sitcom Mork & Mindy (1978–1982).
