Rock Hudson (born Roy Harold Scherer, Jr.; November 17, 1925 – October 2, 1985) was an American actor known for his roles in numerous movies and television shows. He rose to stardom during the Golden Age of Hollywood and enjoyed a successful screen career spanning over three decades. Hudson gained recognition for his performances in films such as Magnificent Obsession (1954), All That Heaven Allows (1955), and Giant (1956), which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He also starred in popular romantic comedies alongside Doris Day, including Pillow Talk (1959), Lover Come Back (1961), and Send Me No Flowers (1964). In the late 1960s, Hudson transitioned to television and found success with the mystery series McMillan & Wife (1971–1977). He made his last appearance on the primetime soap opera Dynasty in its fifth season (1984–1985).
