Rodrigo Santoro, born on August 22, 1975, is a Brazilian actor known for his roles in various films and television series. He gained recognition for portraying Persian King Xerxes in the films 300 (2006) and 300: Rise of an Empire (2014). His other notable film credits include Brainstorm (2001), Carandiru (2003), Love Actually (2003), Che (2008), I Love You Phillip Morris (2009), and Rio (2011). Santoro also appeared on the television series Lost as the character Paulo and on HBO's Westworld (2016–2020) as Hector Escaton. Born in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, to an Italian engineer and a Brazilian artist, Santoro began his acting career in the Actor's Workshop of Rede Globo while studying Journalism at PUC-Rio.
