Roland Winters (born Roland Winternitz; November 22, 1904 – October 22, 1989) was an American actor best known for his portrayal of Charlie Chan in six films during the late 1940s. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Winters came from a musical family, with his father being an Austrian violinist and composer. He began his acting career with Monogram Pictures, where he was chosen to replace Sidney Toler in the Charlie Chan film series. Winters made his debut as Chan at the age of 44 in 'The Chinese Ring' (1947) and went on to star in five more Chan films. In addition to his work in the Chan series, Winters also had character roles in other feature films.
