Ron Karabatsos Biography
Ronald Christ Karabatsos (1933–2012) was an American character actor. Born on April 22, 1933, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he grew up in Union City and graduated from Emerson High School. After being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Karabatsos joined the police department of his hometown, serving for twenty-eight years as a homicide detective. In 1982, he was approached to act in the Sidney Lumet movie Prince of the City while still on the police force. Karabatsos' performance received positive reviews from most New York critics and Roger Ebert. He continued to make appearances in various movies and TV shows throughout his career.
