Ronald Pickup Biography
Ronald Alfred Pickup (7 June 1940 – 24 February 2021) was an English actor known for his work in television, film, and theatre. He started his acting career with a role in Doctor Who in 1964. Pickup was a prominent member of Laurence Olivier's National Theatre company and received acclaim for his stage performances. Some of his notable screen roles include the title role in The Life of Verdi and Prince Yakimov in Fortunes of War (1987). Pickup was born in Chester in 1940 and attended the King's School before studying English at the University of Leeds. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and became a respected member of the acting community.
