Ronald Boyd DeVoe Jr., born on November 17, 1967, is an American singer and rapper. He is best known as a member of the R&B/pop group New Edition and the R&B/hip hop group Bell Biv DeVoe. DeVoe joined New Edition in 1981 after catching the eye of record producer Maurice Starr, who signed the group to his Streetwise record label. New Edition became the biggest-selling boy band of the mid to late 1980s. After the breakup of New Edition in 1990, DeVoe, along with fellow members Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins, formed Bell Biv DeVoe. Their debut album Poison sold more than 5 million copies and produced five hit singles. In 1993, DeVoe and the group released their follow-up album Hootie Mack.
