Roscoe Orman (born June 11, 1944) is an American actor, writer, artist, and child advocate. He gained fame for his portrayal of Gordon Robinson, one of the central human characters on Sesame Street. Orman began his acting career in the 1960s, making his theatrical debut in the topical revue 'If We Grow Up.' He was a member of the Free Southern Theater in New Orleans and a founding member of the New Lafayette Theatre in Harlem, NY. Orman has appeared in various stage productions, including Joseph Papp's Public Theater, Broadway's 'Fences,' and Manhattan Theatre Club's stagings. Aside from acting, he is also a writer, artist, and advocate for children's rights.
