Rosey Grier, born Roosevelt Grier on July 14, 1932, is an American actor, singer, Protestant minister, and former professional football player. He gained recognition as a standout college football player at Pennsylvania State University and was later included in the National Collegiate Athletic Association 100th anniversary list of most influential student athletes. During his twelve-season professional football career, Grier played for the New York Giants and was a member of the original Fearsome Foursome of the Los Angeles Rams. He participated in the Pro Bowl twice. Following his sports career, Grier became a bodyguard for Senator Robert Kennedy and was present during his tragic assassination in 1968. Grier later hosted his own television show and made numerous guest appearances on various shows in the 1960s and 1970s.
